It is very rare that you see someone this dumb decide that they want to enter into criminal
enterprise- because in many ways staying outside the law is far difficult than living within it.
And even though I’ve never (to the best of my knowledge anyway) tried to break any law,
there are some things that I think should be criminality 101. Like maybe don’t call the
person who’s kid you have kidnapped with your own goddamn line!
According to Graphic Online, a man known as Schmidt Yamoah has been sentenced to
eight years in prison with hard labour- after he was found guilty of kidnapping a four year
Yamoah, who is unemployed, stayed in the same town as the boy and his father, Anaji in
the Western Region. Yamoah a while back concocted an elaborate kidnapping scheme,
where he called the boy’s teacher impersonating his father, and told her he would send
someone to come for the kid.
He later appeared, secured the boy, and then called the father demanding a Ghc 25,000
ransom. They agreed on Ghc3,000, which the boy’s father paid and then got the kid back.
His unravelling though, was when the boy’s father installed True caller, an app that can tell
you who’s calling based on their online footprint- and then got Yamoah’s entire details
which he furnished to police.
He was arrested, arraigned before court, and then given his sentence after pleading guilty.
This guy shames some of those great criminals of fiction, like Michael Scofield and Nucky
Thompson.
