Following the poor performance of Nigeria’s Super Eagles against Iran at the ongoing FIFA 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Pa Michael Obi, father of Chelsea star, John Mikel Obi, has advised the handlers of the team on what to do to
improve the Eagles’ performance in their upcoming matches. Nairapark.com reports that the senior Obi said the Nigeria team lacked attacking bite in their first round match with Iran on Monday.
He therefore, advised coach Stephen Keshi to instruct the Eagles to add more stamina in their play for them to be able to win their remaining matches. It could be recalled that the goalless draw recorded by Nigeria against Iran drew a lot of criticisms from football fans all over the world.
Commenting on the match, Pa Obi stated that one of the attackers up front, Victor Moses, failed to make use of several thrusts made to him from the midfield, adding that the game only made sense when Osaze was introduced into the match. “Nigeria needs more of stamina and attack up front if we hope to advance from this stage. I envisaged a problem when we had only one attacker upfront and he failed to make use of the many thrusts given to him from the midfield," Pa Obi said while speaking with newsmen in Jos.
Nigeria will take on Bosnia in their second Group F match on Saturday and will complete their first round matches with a tie against Argentina.
Argentinal currently sit atop the group after they defeated Bosnia 2-1 in their first match played on Sunday.
