Tributes have been pouring in for a 13 year old boy who died after attempting to rescue two girls who had gotten into trouble in a small man-made pond on Friday.
Ricky Osagie was said to be a lovely, selfless young man who had a promising football career ahead of him according to
all those who knew him.
The heroic teenager and another girl dived into the pond after seeing a girl in distress even though he knew he was putting his own life at risk as he couldn’t swim. The girls are now said to be in a stable condition at the hospital.
This, his father says is typical of Ricky who he says was always smiling and loved by all. Kelly, Ricky’s dad told the Irish Sunday Mirror, “He was trying to help someone else.” The young footballer’s former football manager Patrick Burke told the Mirror that Ricky had the potential to be better than Messi and he had no doubts the youngster would have made it to the top of the league.
