Contrary to speculations in some quarters, the Presidency has denied that defence minister, Aliyu Gusau who last week appointed has resigned President Jonathan's spokesperson also said that yesterday's altercation between Mr. Obanikoro and Military commanders were fake and that the public should not believe it.
Mr. Gusau did not attend Wednesday’s weekly cabinet meeting- cited as the most ostensible indication he has quit the cabinet. “It is not true that he has resigned,” Mr. Abati told PREMIUM TIMES in a short telephone interview.
The presidential spokesman said that the Mr. Gusau was ill and thats why he didn't attend today's meeting of the Federal Executive Council.”
Mr. Gusau has yet to deny that he resigned or that he had an altercation with the service chiefs. He has avoided answering calls.
He is also yet to reply to a text message sent to his mobile telephone.
