There has been mixed reactions among the people of Umuahia in Abia state, regarding the sad event which occurred on Saturday at the venue of the official declaration of Governor T.A Orji's campaign for his senatorial ambition ahead of the 2015 general elections. This involved the unfortunate death of the PA to the son of the Governor.
John Ndubuka, PA to the son of the Abia state governor, Chinedu Orji aka IKUKU was on saturday murdered by Ikuku's police orderly who claims accidental discharge. But people are saying that
IKUKU killed the man because of the N65 million that disappeared under his care sometime ago which John claimed was stolen by one Aboki; saying further that they plan to secretly eliminate those with serious secret about their stolen funds to avoid being exposed as the administration is winding up because they are afraid that they may not be able to install the next governor.
Others claim that “IKUKU”, the self acclaimed Governor of the state, who was angered by the utterance of his late PA over a minor issue, directed his police orderly to shoot the late aide.
An eye witness at the venue who spoke under anonymity stated that it was unintentional and as such, an accidental discharge. According to him, there was mammoth crowd after the event which tried to come close to the Governor's son as he was about to get into his car. In a bid to clear the crowd for his boss, the worse happened. Another eye witness however believed it was a spiritual manipulation.
Whether is it an accidental discharge or a spiritual manipulation, God knows best!
It is therefore important to suggest that people should show probity on the way they report incidence as it concerns government and politics. We all know that opposition is an ingredient or feature of democracy but it does not mean that the issue of death should be politicized. It is also disheartening the magnitude at which persons in the state who did not in one way benefit from the present administration should target in causing disaffection, animosity and strife. I therefore submit that we should join hands together to build Abia state and Nigeria.
