He stated that that Amunike’s appointment was borne out of the need for continuity, since Amunike was an assistant to Manu Garba, who led the Golden Eaglets to World Cup glory in 2013.
“We have opted for continuity because these coaches are highly experienced and qualified to continue with the progress we are making.“We’ve had a couple of disappointing experiences in the past and it was felt that we couldn’t take the same route again,” NFF official said.
Mr Ikpeme also noted that the new Eaglets’ head coach used to be a great player and that the NFF believes that Emmanuel Amunike deserved his new role, as the new manager of U-17 National Team.
