Burial Of Late Chief Agagu Still Holds Tomorrow ---- family


Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo state wept openly both at Akure Airport and Government House following the crash of the Plane that was conveying the former governor Olusegun Agagu and his family members and government officials for his lying in state yesterday.

The crash was a sort of coincidental tragedy for governor Mimiko as he clocked 59, yesterday.
The Culture and Tourism Commissioner Deji Falae and some government officials were in the crashed plane from Lagos to Akure.
Falae led the state government delegation that accompanied the corpse from Lagos before the crash.
His emotions betrayed him immediately his Chief of Staff, Dr. Kola Ademujimi briefed him while he and other top government officials awaited the corpse of Dr Agagu at the Akure Airport.
The wife of the former governor, Mrs. Olufunke Agagu and his two daughters Solape and Omowunmi had earlier arrived the airport from Ibadan waiting to receive him when the news broke that the plane had crashed.
Governor Mimiko burst into tears and
was shielded by security personnel who smuggled him into his official car.
He reportedly wept like a baby throughout the about fifteen minutes journey from the airport to the Government House.
Dr. Mimiko could not attend to visitors as he stayed indoor all through.
Also, the wife of the former governor and her daughters were whisked away by family members and moved to a family friend's house in Akure where doctors attended to them.
Efforts to speak with family members failed as they all kept sealed lips describing the incident as too tragic.
The Brazil-made Embraer 120 plane which crashed on Thursday in Lagos, southwestern Nigeria, killing at least 13 people, was 23-year old and last flew on 30 August 2013, Associated airlines said at a press conference.
The airline’s chief operating officer, Taiwo Raji, said the crashed plane was last serviced on 24 June 2013 in Lagos.
“The last time the affected plane flew was on the August 30, 2013, while the age of the aircraft was 23 years
The tragic plane crash which occurred yesterday will not halt preparations of Late Chief Olusegun Agagus funerel tomorrow, the family has revealed.
The remains of the former Governor of Ondo will be buried tomorrow in his hometown in Iju-Odo, Okitipupa Local Government Area, in the South Senatorial District of the State.
