W/Cup 2014: "I Perform Best Under Pressure" -- Osaze

Super Eagles returnee striker Osaze Odemwingie has said he understands the high level of expectations Nigerians have placed on him and the team.
The Stoke City striker, who spoke at the team’s base camp in Campinas, Brazil, said he was
aware of what to expect from the fans before he returned to the team, adding that it was an all familiar situation for him.  He said,
“There is pressure on me to do well; you know that I am joining a winning team. They have been wonderful all the way. And the joy is that I perform best under pressure.”

With Ike Uche out of the squad; Emmanuel Emenike and Victor Moses yet to recover their 2013 African Nations Cup forms, the pressure is now on Osaze, who made his national debut with Tunisia 2004, to deliver well with goals.

He scored on his debut but yet to hit the net after three matches since he returned to the fold.

Also in Campinas, Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi said he was confident that the team would do better than they did at the 2013 Nations Cup. He said, “From what I’ve seen, this team will do better than what we did in South Africa. There is love and unity in the camp and the players are ready to do their best.”

Nigeria will open their Brazil 2014 campaign with the match against Iran on Monday.
