Davido won the Best International Act (African) at last night’s 2014 BET Awards, which took place at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. 21 year old Davido beat out Tiwa Savage (Nigeria), Sarkodie (Ghana), Mafikozolo (South Africa), Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania) and Toofan (Togo).
Davido immediately took to twitter to celebrate his win, writing ” Thanks to all my fans!! WE WON”
As expected Davido was not
given his award on the live show which aired to the American audience. He collected his award way before the show aired, his acceptance speech was pre-recorded before the show went live and will only be aired to the UK and African audience when the awards are shown here later this week.

Even though the main audience wasn’t in the auditorium to see Davido collect his award, super producer and artiste Pharell Williams was in the audience and saw him collect his award. Davido later told fans via social media that Pharell said to him “you must be very HAPPY’ and he replied “hell yeah!!!”
Congrats to Davido! He has achieved so much at 21 years old!
