HURRAY! Obasanjo Preaches At A Crusade In Lagos


Wonders they say shall never end. Such is the news that former President, Olusegun Obasanjo has been invited along with other pastors to preach at the forthcoming crusade organised by the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN. The crusade which will take place in Lekki, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, between Monday, 10 February and Friday, 14 February, 2014, is being organised by CAN in conjunction with Bishop Kayode Williams World Outreach and Oba Karunwi III Evangelical Movement.

Rivers State Police Commissioner Mbu Removed From Position


photoJoseph Mbu, is alleged to have had a controversial career as the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, has been removed from his post, a source at police headquarters in Abuja said.
The source said the commissioner is expected to leave his post at the end of this week. However, the source added that the police hierarchy has made no public announcement of Mr. Mbu’s removal.
The removal of the police commissioner, known to be a crony of Patience Jonathan, the wife of Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan, is coming on the heels of threats by opposition party All Progressives Congress (APC) to block all legislative proposals by Mr. Jonathan until the political crisis believed to be instigated in Rivers State by the President and his wife is resolved.

Actor Philip Hoffman Dies At 46


The actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in his New York apartment on Sunday morning of an apparent drug overdose, according to a law enforcement official who requested anonymity because he was not certain the actor’s family had been informed of the death.
The official said Mr. Hoffman, 46, was found in his West Village apartment around 11:30 a.m. by a friend who had become concerned at not being able to reach Mr. Hoffman.

Nigeria To Aid Post-conflict African Countries With $2m

Nigeria will provide $2 million to support reconstruction and development in African countries emerging from conflicts, the Minister of State 2, Foreign Affairs, Dr Nurudeen Mohammed, said.
Mohammed made the announcement on Saturday in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia at the inaugural Africa Solidarity Conference aimed at mobilising support from within Africa for countries emerging from conflicts.

The minister reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to support such countries in capacity building and manpower assistance through its Technical Aids Corps scheme.

CHAN 2014: Super Eagles Emerges Third, Beats Zimbabwe

The Home based Super Eagles defeated the Zimbabwe team 1-0 to claim the third place position in the ongoing CHAN 2014.
